Day Trip

November 21st
Discovery Gateway

Mom, Roscoe, and Paula went with Jenelle, Charley, and Jenelle's brother Robert to SLC. We rode the train down town, got some lunch, and went to discovery gateway. It was a lot of fun. Robert and Roscoe had fun playing blocks and building things together.

Firefighter Roscoe!
He really like to look in the mirror when he is playing dress up :)

Hill Aerospace Museum

November 15th
This was an afternoon at the museum up the road. The kids had a lot of fun at the kids center, and they liked looking at the planes too!

Roscoe's Flight

November 15th
Hill Aerospace Museum
They had lots of different uniforms and simulators. Roscoe thought it was the coolest thing ever!
Here is how his first flight went:

Step 1:
Put on your flight suit and salute to your commanding officer (daddy).
He is saluting in this pic, if you cant tell he has his hand opposite of how it should be. . . his pinky is on his forehead

Step 2:
Checking out the levers

Step 3:
Read the dials

Step 4:
Push the buttons

Step 5:
Smile (okay, we are still working on that one!)
He stayed in the cockpit for about 10 minutes and got mad when we had to get him out.

Castle Park

November 15th

This was an afternoon we had at the castle park in Kaysville.

Happy Birthday Michaela Joy

Amy has been busy, so I will update the blog for now. I figure this is like "doing the dishes" or "doing the laundry," if the woman lets the man do it once, she will never let him do it again.

My beautiful Michaela turns 10 today. She is having a Cooking Party with all her friends tonight. She is growing up too fast, she has a piano recital next week too. We are all excited.

Amy started a new job last week, she is working at the University book store a few days a week, I think she likes the mingling with adults for a few hours, it's a good release.

We will get some pics posted on the blog as soon as I download them of the party and the recital. I even got some of me an Michaela shooting Uncle Zack's guns over Thanksgiving break.

We hope all is going well for all of you over this Holiday season. Merry Christmas.

New Family Pics at Union Station

Amy's sister Jessica was a sweetheart and took some family pictures of us while she was in Utah for Thanksgiving, from California. It has been a while since we have taken pictures together as a family, so check them out. Click here to see the pics, just scroll down until you see us. Thanks again Jess, it was a lot of fun, and you do a great job.

Say "PLEASE"!

We have been working with Roscoe to get him to use his nice voice and ask for what he wants by using "please". This is a conversation that Mike and Roscoe had tonight.

Daddy: Roscoe, will you watch football with me tonight?
Roscoe: Um, no. Say "PLEASE"
Daddy: Roscoe, will you PLEASE watch football with me?
Roscoe: (with no hesitation) NO.

I couldn't stop laughing!

A Major Award!

Michaela and Abby both entered the PTA's Refelections Contest this year. The awards ceremony was tonight and they both received "a major award".
Michaela won 3rd place in the 4th grade visual arts and photograpy category. She got a trophy and $20. She took a photo of Farmington Valley from the trails above Lagoon, it was very beautiful.
Abby won 1st place in the 1st grade visual arts category. She got a trophy and $50! She painted a picture with acrylics of a butterfly, it was really cute.
Since they both placed high enough, their projects go to the region level to be judged.
We are so proud of them and how hard they worked to get their projects done (well actually how much they bugged me until I finally let them do it.)

S'more Please

While Becky and Harold and their kids were down Papa wanted to use his fire pit. We had fun making (and eating) s'mores.

Sugar Hang Over!

The day after Halloween we decided to take the kids to Discovery Gateway, it was fun, but the kids were so cranky after the sugar rush from the night before.

"Can you say OCD?"
Roscoe asked me to help him get some balls, but got really upset when I just started throwing them in the bucket. He showed me how the red balls had to be in a line, the orange balls in a line, and the yellow balls in a line. When Mike saw this he asked Roscoe "can you say OCD?" and Roscoe answered "OCD!"

Trick-or-Treat

This is all the kids waiting on the front porch to go Trick-or-Treating. We had fun going around the block, and then went to Grandma and Grandpa's house for the soup cook-off. Mom's Cream of Cabbage Soup was the winner, it was so good!

Mr. Pumkin Head

The last couple of years we have used the Mr. Pumpkin Head kits instead of carving or painting pumpkins. I love it because I can poke the holes and the kids can put the parts in. It is so much faster and easier!

Paula's Princess Pumpkin

Roscoe's Ninja Pumpkin

Abigail's Rock Star Pumpkin

Michaela's Clown Pumpkin

All the pumpkins (orange and human) in the patch.

Pumpkins!

Uncle Zack and Aunt Shaunna grew pumpkins in their garden this year and the kids were very, very exctied when Zack brought them each a pumpkin a few weeks before Halloween.
Thank you Zack!

Mike?

Mike was trying to find a good costume for Halloween, but he ended up not dressing up at all. He is really a spoil sport!

Roscoe's new friend

The kids talked me into decorating for Halloween the Monday before, so while we were getting some stuff put up Roscoe found this skeleton that I had hung up. He loved shaking its hand and even told me that it was his new friend.

BOM Challenge

Well we were up to 1 Nephi 22, but haven't been reading for the past few months. We decided to start over and give everyone else a challenge to read the BOM as a family with us. I will periodically post where we are at, so if you want to start with us you can, if you have already started let us know where you are starting, and see if you can get back to the same spot before we can finish. We are open to ideas on how to keep the kids interested and anything else you want to share!
